After a fun, but exhausting weekend, Anime Boston 2012 has come to a close. I had a great time there, and met many wonderful and talented artists in the alley. I so grateful to the Anime Boston staff, my Artist Alley neighbors, and all the attendees who visited. Thank you all!

BCNC Program Book finished!

First, I’d like to once again thank the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center for the opportunity to work on renowned Chinese New Year Banquet’s many projects, and for the opportunity to partake of the banquet’s company and foods. Images of the BCNC’s Chinese New Year Program Book’s cover, page layout examples and several advertisements’ designs are now posted in my site’s Design section.

MangaNEXT was a great event. I’m so inspired by the range of artists I met and saw in the Artist Alley, and am now very excited to be getting ready for Anime Boston 2012.

I also got to meet and shake hands with Felipe Smith! He gave some great advice and was very encouraging when I asked him about the best way to get into the industry. I’m very honored to have been able to hear him speak at MangaNEXT.

A huge thanks goes out to everyone who came by my table and bought my merchandise, and lots of love to the staff and volunteers who made MangaNEXT possible! And a special thanks goes out to my table neighbor who graciously gave up his half of the table, thus allowing me to spread out so I would not have a pillar behind my chair for the whole convention (sorry, I didn’t catch your name!).

I’m heading down to New Jersey and will be in the 2012 MangaNext Artist Alley from February 24th to the 26th! I’m really excited to attend MangaNext, and I hope that I’ll have a nice spot in the alley. I’ve got my inventories restocked and am ready to go!

Hello, 2012

It’s now 2012, and I can hardly believe it. I’m not sad to see 2011 go, but I just don’t feel like the year has changed.

Over the winter I’ve been working as a volunteer Graphic Designer for the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, Inc. (BCNC for short), and I’m having a ton of fun working with their projects. I’m illustrating a Dragon logo based on the upcoming Chinese New Year Zodiac creature, and I’m designing the BCNC’s invitations for their 2012 Chinese New Year Banquet. I’ll be posting pictures as soon as the invitations go out to the public. Then I’ll be working on one more project for the BCNC in relation to the Chinese New Year, but I can’t say just yet what it is because it hasn’t started yet. I’m really looking forward to adding these projects to my portfolio as I’m really proud of how they’ve turned out.

This year I’m looking forward to picking up some great Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals over the internet. I learned my lesson a few years ago not to bother with going to the stores to join in on the stampede, but to rather go online and keep track of daily deals and the such. With that lesson learned, I managed to pick up Poser Debut for a little more than fifty percent off. I’m very much a visual artist, and I think this investment will really help improve my characters’ anatomy and fluidity.

The Nightmare Before Halloween

The Northeast was hammered by a winter snow storm that did more damage than anyone had expected, mostly because the trees hadn’t dropped their leaves, and the wet snow weighed the branches down to their breaking point. Many people were without power for several days, and some are still without power. Most of the snow has melted, and Halloween trick-or-treaters are only now starting to make their postponed candy rounds. My home was mostly undamaged from the storm and falling branches, and we only lost power for a mere 24hours. While I was able to use my cellphone to check the internet and do some drawing in the quiet, it was still an ordeal that I would not want to go through again any time soon.
